I know it’s Wednesday, but Music Wednesday just sounds wrong.  I’ll try better next week.

In any case, this week’s earworm is Submarines by The Lumineers.  They were supposed to play the final night of the Ottawa Folk Festival earlier this month, but had to cancel due to “scheduling conflicts”.  It would have been nice to hear them live, but as a consolation I got to hear Hey Rosetta again.

It’s been interesting to see the resurgence in alt-folk-roots-rock music lately.  Mumford & Sons, The Civil Wars, The Avett Brothers, Fleet Foxes, The Lumineers – real people, real instruments.  Nice to see it’s not a novelty yet.

While Ho Hey is The Lumineers’ big song, I’m partial to Submarines.  Like the floor tom / snare combo, love the unison shouting.  The world needs more unison shouting – feel free to shout along.
