Back to Reality

After four weeks of leisure, I woke up this morning to the sad reality that my vacation is over.  Time to put away the shorts and sandals, iron the pants and shine the shoes, and mentally prepare myself for a month of unanswered voicemail and e-mail.  I’m trying to ignore the fact that there are 336 days until next summer’s vacation begins.

We covered a lot of ground over the past four weeks.  From Ottawa to Lakefield, Thornbury, Ancaster, and Kitchener, we managed to see everyone in the family and hang out with some friends that we see much too infrequently.  Our travels took us down highways 2, 5, 6, 7, 8, 11, 12, 15, 17, 24, 26, 28, 31, 35, 41, 52, 53, 58, 400, 401, 403, 407, 416, and 417.   My favourite was the stretch of 28 between Lakefield and Denbigh – just spectacular scenery and a really fun road.

Here are a few more photos from the past couple of weeks.

On August 18, K actually took an afternoon nap. This may be the final time he ever falls asleep on one of us, which sadly is one of my favourite parts of being a parent.
