I spent a fair amount of time this weekend in my office trying to decide whether “astonishing” or “riveting” was a better adjective to use in a report. With only the sound of the air conditioning to keep me company, I decided to catch up on some long-neglected Canada Live podcasts. First in my queue was Rose Cousins performing live in Calgary. The next hour was awesome.
I have a number of friends who have been singing Rose’s praises for a while now, and I’m sorry it took me so long to get on the bandwagon. In fairness, Rose is from PEI and my attention has been focused largely on artists from the western part of the country. In any case, I made a point of stopping at HMV on the way home to pick up her third album We Have Made a Spark. At first I was frustrated (but not surprised) to see they didn’t have her in the rock / pop section, but persistence paid off when I found the CD buried amongst some country CDs.
I am a sucker for solo piano ballads, and This Light stopped me in my tracks.
