Maurizio recently tagged me in a recent post on his blog. We’re playing a little game called If My Life Was a Movie, What Would the Soundtrack Be?
To paraphrase another blogger, you put your iPod on shuffle and write the name of each song that comes up in sequence against a specific list of scenes in your life – also in sequence. So, using my spankin’ new iPod, here’s what I came up with:
Opening credits Cheating on You – Franz Ferdinand
First day of school I Am Weary (Let Me Rest) – The Cox Family
Falling in love Hopelessly Devoted to Them – The Housemartins
Prom/GradYour Ex-Lover is Dead – Stars
Mental breakdown Twist My Arm – The Tragically Hip
Flashbacks Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band – The Beatles
Getting back togetherBonny Portmore – Loreena McKennitt
Wedding scene He Used to Cut the Grass – Frank Zappa
Final battle Disco Boy – Frank Zappa
Death scene Old Brown’s Daughter – Great Big Sea
Funeral scene Ecclesiastes: Free My Heart – Me’Shell Ndegéocello
End credits Over on Fourth Street – Pat Metheny
FinaleLovin’ U – Alicia Keys
Well, some of those are interesting – others are just plain weird. Over to you, Mr. Anderson. Would you care to play?
Dear DearloveI would love to take this challenge right now, because I am supposed to be reading Bronte’s “Villette” (YAWN), and I am looking for fun things to do to distract me:Opening credits:coney Island – Death Cab for CutieFirst Day of school:Under Control – The StrokesFalling in love:The big Fight – The StarsProm/ Grad:On a Slow Night – MetricMental Breakdown:I wanna fuck you – Akon feat. Snoop DoggFlashbacks:Bron-Y-Aur Stomp – Led ZepplinGetting Back Together:Pass That Dutch – Missy ElliotWedding Scene:Mama Said KNock you Out – LL Cool JFinal Battle:Hello Dolly – Louis ArmstrongDeath Scene:The Dark of the Matinee – Franz FerdinandFuneral SceneThrough the Glow – Laura ViersEnd Credits:La Nina de Peurto Oscura – Paco de Lucia (From the Life Aquatic Soundtrack)Finale:Dedicated to the One I love – The Mamas and the PapasWell that was kind of fun! … Some of them are funny and kind of ridiculous (see: Wedding scene feat LL Cool J …I hope LL Cool J is never played at my wedding) however, overall this was a fun way to avoid homework, thank you for the suggestion! Now maybe I will go back to reading .. or …. maybe I will check out facebook for 20 or so minutesCheers!Lindsay
