As a great philosopher once said “Just do it” ( I believe his name was Nike) Never too late to pursue other ventures , and still maintain most of the status quo . Believe it or not I just joined a classic rock/blues band a couple of months ago ( playing tonight in Bayfield) and I am the youngest in the band. Find a musical outlet that will let you use your heart more than your head, and you and your family will be all the better for it. P.S. Enjoy reading your blogs… keep them coming.

You are not alone. I identify with much of what you write. Myself, I have reconciled the fact that while I may not be the receipient of a Fullbright Scholarship or a Rhodes scholar I have students who respect me, a home to share with others, and a modest regular income that brings me a certain kind of peace and stability. Many of my performing and academic friends who live month-to-month and change cities like I change socks are envious of that.

Check out Jeff Queen and his book playing with sticks. He is a showboat but man can he drum. He was the solo guy for Blast a few years back. He is truely insane.
